2023 was a memorable year for the Salt City Rock and Blues community. Once again, LaborFest played to a packed house. Headlining LaborFest 2023 was iconic classic rock band FOGHAT. Warming up the evening crowd were local legends Salt City All Stars, The Downtowners and Sufferin Suckatash. It was a great night of music enjoyed by all. All of this was made possible – once again – by our fantastic sponsors. None of this would happen without you. For the past 12 years, Salt City Rock and Blues -through its annual festivals- has endeavored to enhance our community by raising funds that have gone to worthwhile projects and organizations.
Over the years we have donated nearly $20,000 for the restoration of the Fifth Avenue Lighthouse, gave $5,000 to Homeward Bound Animal Shelter, during the pandemic raised (and spent) over $20,000 in our Feed The Fight Manistee campaign to buy over 2000 meals from local restaurants which were then provided to first responders and health care workers. Most recently, we chipped in $12,000 to fund the feasibility study for the amphitheater. Our motto and mission, “Building
Community Through Music” – lights our path forward. Quite simply, our goal is to make our community better in any way that we can. Soon we will know the results of the feasibility study for construction an iconic amphitheater on the shores of Lake Michigan. Then the real work will begin towards raising the funds needed to fulfill those goals. Together, we can continue to make a positive and long-lasting impact on our community.
